A Short History Of PBS College

PBS College started in 1982 as a husband and wife team – Pieter & Christine Jordaan. Over the next three decades, they worked tirelessly for the Credit Management Community. They both served on the management committees for the ICM SA, ICM Africa, UICM and ADRA. Both Pieter and Christine are hailed as “South African Icons” in Credit Management.
In the late 1990’s PBS College started branching into General Management Training, and slowly started building a reputation as Leadership Development experts. Their facilitators started being sought after by other major training and education companies, and PBS College were approached by Universities and Technicons to design their course syllabus and write learner and facilitator guides. PBS College was instrumental in many courses offered by UNISA, UJ, Milpark Education and Damelin.

Pieter unexpectedly passed away in 2007, leaving his family, friends, collegues and learners feeling the impact of losing a legend. His wife, Christine, miraculously kept her head high and threw herself into her business and her clients. She pulled in additional facilitators and started broadening the horizons and spectrum of services the company offers.

One of the facilitators she started using more regularly, was her daughter, Christelle Bure. Christelle has built a reputation as a management consultant, with past employers including Ernst & Young, First Rand, SAB, and Computer Associates. Christelle has a passion for Personal Development and Process. By the time she was appointed as a Director with PBS College in 2012, PBS College’s core focus had started shifting to encompass Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Risk Management and Leadership Development.

All PBS College courses are based on SAQA Certifications, and every course is aligned to SAQA regulations, and to bring personal development into the life of every working person. Their formal Accreditation is through FASSET, and they proudly became registered as the only FASSET registered college for the 57901 Certificate in Credit Management.

Christine Jordaan

PBS College Founder, CEO and Principal

Christine, the Principal of the college, has been managing the college since its inception. She built the college to an internationally recognised institution, offering a wide spectrum of academic as well as skills-based courses, throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Her passion and experience in Credit- and General Management has seen her crowned as an icon in the credit management industry.

Christelle Bure

PBS College Director & Facilitator

Christelle has a passion for people, projects and strategy. She has spent her career as a project and change manager, life-coach, career-coach and personal mastery facilitator. She instils the principles of basic self-love and self-respect and facilitates a constant challenging of the status quo. As an outspoken defender of equal human rights, she ensures both one-on-one sessions, as well as group facilitations are lively, thought provoking and factually informative.

Chris Brownbill

PBS College Facilitator, Assessor & Moderator

Chris has, as his personal objectives:

  • To strive to help people grow, within themselves and in their careers, by imparting my knowledge and experience through interactive and passionate training & facilitation.
  • He believes that life is a journey and learning happens in every interaction, therefore his objective is to make every interaction meaningful and useful.
  • He believes that people “make the company”, so building the best all-rounded, happy and engaged staff compliment is extremely important.

His aim is to play a part in this, by ensuring the best quality training and facilitation that leads to a positive change in behavior.

Lindiwe Ndlovu

PBS College Facilitator

Lindiwe Ndlovu has devoured every course PBS has ever done, and is also busy with her degree through UNISA. During her time with PBS College as a learner, Lindiwe excelled and impressed her Facilitators and her peers with her energy, her clear grasp of financial concepts and her ability to explain complex issues.

PBS College grabbed her with both hands and she started off mentoring her fellow students, and slowly moved into a facilitation role. Lindiwe is a down-to-earth facilitator who works in the Credit Control field every day of her life

Stone Chirwa

PBS College Career Advisor

A career advisor and a sought after speaker who uses an edutainment style to inform and educate his audience. Stone loves spending time with Grade 12’s, guiding them through the maize of decisions around what to study, where to study, applying for bursaries and learnerships, etc. Stone has brought with him a brand new focus area for PBS, and he has increased our value proposition to the market

Stanley Sardinha

PBS College Facilitator

Stanley Sardinha has 25 years experience in the Credit Management industry. He works full time in the Commercial Lending environment, and his learners find tremendous value in his personal experience. Stanley facilitates many of our modules due to the depth of his vast knowledge, and as a facilitator he is calm, thorough and knowledgeable. He has his BTech, Advanced Certificate in Banking, and an Associate diploma from the Institute of Bankers.

Daniel McCabe

PBS College Facilitator

Daniel has been training and lecturing both part time and full time for the last 26 years and is a qualified Assessor and Moderator. Training on all levels of students from level NQF 2 to NQF level 8 (MBA at UKZN) and these skills covered logistics, supply chain, marketing and economics as well as other soft skills. Daniel has thirty five years of diverse Business and Executive experience, including formidable strategic and operational planning knowledge.

FASSET

Responsible for our accreditation with SAQA

Fasset is the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority. 25 Setas were established in March 2000 in terms of the Skills Development Act, to cover all sectors in South Africa, including government. The members of a Seta include employers, trade unions, professional bodies, government departments and bargaining councils, where relevant, from each industrial sector.
